Executive Director

Head Coach 17U Andy Borman: A graduate of Duke University (2004), Andy Borman has coached at the college (Univ. of California & San Jose State Univ.), Prep School (IMG Academy, Florida), and AAU level for over a decade. He has coached and helped over 75 players receive Division 1 scholarships and countless more play at the Division II & III levels. A member of the 2001 National Championship team and 2004 Final Four team at Duke, Andy has played with and coached/trained numerous players that went on to play professional basketball in the NBA, D-League, and Europe. Andy was hired as the Executive Director of the RENS in August 2014 and resides in Manhattan with his wife, Shawn Catherine Borman and son, Leo Alexander Borman. (aborman@therens.org)

Associate Executive Director

Head Coach 16u Chris Alesi: A 2001 graduate of Xaverian High School, Chris was an all-city point guard his senior year. He graduated from Baruch College (2005) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.  Chris is the son of legendary Xaverian Coach Jack Alesi where he was an assistant Varsity coach for 10 years and served as the freshman Head Coach for 4 years. In 2014, Chris led the 16u New Heights team to the Under Armour championship and ended the year as the unanimous #1 ranked team nationally. He was one 25 coaches in the country that received that prestigious Positive Coach Alliance Double Goal Coach Award in 2015. Chris currently resides in Staten Island, NY. Head Coach 15U Hector Almodovar: A staple on the New York City basketball scene for the past decade, Hector Almodovar has coached the best talent in New York City consistently. He has won numerous tournaments including Holcombe Rucker, Rod Strickland, Gauchos Roundball, Pro Style, and many more of note. The most notable tournament win was taking the the Championship trophy in the Adidas Super 64 (15u Division). Additionally, Hector has coached numerous high-major Division I players, a number have which have gone on to play in the NBA. Head Coach 14u Steve Alvarado: Steve graduated in 1987 from the Bronx High School of Science where he was a 3 year starter and Co-Captain of a PSAL NYC semi-finalist. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He is currently the Head Coach of the Iona Prep Junior Varsity in New Rochelle, NY. This past season he led the team to a NY Diocesan Championship and Runner Up in The CHSAA Intersectional Championship.  He has served as a Head coach and Assistant coach with various youth teams over the past 7 years; including this past season with New Heights NYC where he led their 14U team boys team to a Third Place finish at AAU Division 1 Nationals. He currently resides in Bedford Hills with his wife, Patty, and Triplet 14 year old boys, Jordan, Xander and Tyler. (salvarado@xcelend.com)

 

Head Coach 13U Steve Harris: A 17 year veteran mentor with a passion for developing young players, His teams play tough, hardcore, attack basketball. Stephen's disciples include Kemba Walker, Russ Smith, Deron Lamb, Omar Calhoun and Shaquille Stokes. (Tooblessed16@gmail.com)

 

Head Coach 12u/9u: Craig "KAT" Keys: The head coach of the 3rd and 4th grade The RENS teams. The Queens veteran has been coaching for 45 years. An extremely well respected teacher of fundamentals first. Works as an educator at Bayside high school. Head Coach 11U Danny Green: Danny Green Sr has a B.A. degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice from CW Post and M.A. in Physical Education from Hofstra University. Coach Green has been coaching Varsity and AAU basketball for over 16 years. He currently owns and operates Team Green Basketball Camp. Proud Father of 5 (Danny Green Jr., Rashad Green, Devonte Green, Dante Green, and Summer Green). Danny Green Jr. attended UNC and he is currently playing for the 2014 NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs. Rashad attended San Francisco University, where he was WCC All-Conference and played professionally in France. (coachdrg2000@yahoo.com)
